An Introduction to Our History and the Other and Beyond the Relations between Islam and the West »The book was written by the Turkish historian Ibrahim Kalin, translated by Professor Anas Yelman, and reviewed and edited by the Arabization and Programming Center in Beirut. Quite the opposite of what thinkers, Arabs and non-Arabs, affirm that there is no convergence between Islam and the West, and that the relationship between the “I” and the “other” is moving towards more divergence and distance. The Turkish historian Ibrahim Kalin searches for common points between the two worlds and considers them "points of convergence and interaction." In his approach, he proceeds from the common history of Islamic and Western societies, and justifies this starting from the intertwining of facts with perceptions of these two histories, as identity with image, and truth with fiction. Therefore, Kalin says: "On the pages of this history, transformations appear between war and peace, justice and oppression, freedom and slavery, dispossession and independence, trust and betrayal." In order to understand these transformations, Ibrahim Kalin draws in his book what he considers a blueprint for the history of the interactions of Islam and the West. This is done by studying the interaction between these two worlds
