Magnesium is an element widely found in nature, one of the components of the green pigment of leaves (chlorophyll) and physiological compounds with high energy content (Mg-ATP). Magnesium is involved in the activity of hundreds of enzymatic systems. The average daily dietary requirement (RDA) for magnesium in adults is 375 mg. The magnesium content in the human body is 0.5 g/kg; 60% of this amount is located in the bones in the form of phosphate. The concentration of magnesium in blood plasma is 2 mg/100 ml. Both plant and animal foods contain 200-300 mg of magnesium per kilogram, ensuring adequate intake in the normal diet. Symptoms of magnesium deficiency can be: nausea, muscle weakness, fatigue, loss of balance, depression, psychosis, irritability or confusion. Magnesium has a beneficial effect in maintaining many physiological functions normally: electrolyte balance, for example in endurance activities or multi-sport, energy metabolism, nerve transmission and muscle contraction including the heart muscle,Cell proliferation, bone metabolism, dental health, protein synthesis, and reducing fatigue and exhaustion. Mental functioning, i.e. those aspects of brain and nervous system functions that determine the ability to concentrate, learn, memory and reasoning, and psychological functions such as cognitive and emotional functions.
