Smoderm cream belongs to a class of medications called retinoids, which are a form of vitamin A. It is used to treat acne. This medication helps reduce the number and severity of acne and promotes faster healing of pimples that develop. Ingredients Tretinoin 0.05%. Warning Use this medication on the skin only. Tretinoin may be used once daily, Do not apply to the inner lip area or inside the nose/mouth. Do not apply to cut, scratched, sunburned, or eczema-prone skin. Topical use may cause severe localized redness and peeling at the application site. If a reaction suggesting an allergic reaction or chemical irritation occurs, discontinue use of the medication. Exposure to sunlight, including sunlamps, should be minimized while using tretinoin. Patients who may be required to be exposed to significant sunlight due to work and those who have an inherent sensitivity to the sun should be especially careful. Use of sunscreen products and protective clothing over treated areas is recommended when exposure cannot be avoided. Extreme weather conditions, such as wind or cold, may also be bothersome for patients receiving tretinoin therapy.
